Quiet listening does not require a perfect room or expensive equipment. It begins by giving a track a little uninterrupted time. Put the phone face down, settle the volume, and let the first minute pass without deciding whether the recording is good.
Try listening at a level where the bass is clear but the loudest passage is comfortable. Notice whether the group is playing toward a shared pulse or gently pulling against it. If your attention drifts, return to one instrument instead of restarting the record.
The aim is not concentration for its own sake. It is to leave enough space for a surprise. Music often becomes more generous when we stop asking it to prove itself immediately.
