The circle

Why a circle?

Music is easier to hear when someone else points out a detail you missed. Jazz Notes began with that simple idea: listen first, talk after, and keep a few useful observations for the next session.

The public reading room holds our essays and prompts. The circle is deliberately smaller. There is no public roster, discussion feed, or scorecard for participation. Invitations happen through existing conversations rather than an open application.

Inside the circle

Members use the private room for longer music shelves, listening experiments, and conversations that do not need a public timeline. We listen closely to one recording, compare what each person heard, and sometimes return to the same passage several times.

Entrance is by invitation only. There is no public registration or open application. If you already have an invitation, use the member entrance.

If you found this site without an invitation, the reading room is open. Take a prompt, follow a bass line, and come back when a second listen changes your mind.
